The crew of the AN12 where killed. In the scene after the aircraft was stripped, you may remember that the weapon's inspector came back to collect Nicolas Cage, that he left sitting on a box. They deleted a scene where the weapons inspector shows the two pilots dead in the back of the UN truck and says to Cage, words to the effect of "your responsible for their deaths" (out of respect for the two crew who died in reality). So I have been told by persons who worked there for the landing scene.
