According to local news reports, Japan Airlines, in the wake of losing oil pressure on a 777 engine on a domestic flight over the weekend, has received a second unprecendented "demand" from the government to "come up with measures to secure passenger safety," saying its previous efforts were insufficient. One television commentator said that a government source said that if nothing improves, they are considering suspending JAL's licence to operate in Japan.
According to the Asahi News, "The transport ministry is now taking a "three-strike" approach to JAL; if the airline fails to improve its safety again, it will be ordered to suspend operations."
