Re: 99% of easyjet pilots reject pay offer

One of the most difficult tasks a union negotiator faces during negotiations is "managing expectations" among pilots. BALPA's policy is not to publicise their opening position and indeed initially to not even have an opening position on first contact with management.

I support the policy until it is changed by a majority of the members.

To make this a career airline, we need
Seniority
15% Company contribution to pensions
At least a 25% lifetime pay increase
Incremental pay scales
4/4/4/4 NOW

BALPA knows this is make or break for ezy pilots and BALPA in ezy.

The alternative is an in house union that everyone belongs to and purchases all services (Negotiating, Insurance, Representation, Technical Assistance, etc) as required.

BALPA does not need this to happen in ezy. Harrison just got back from his skiing holiday yesterday so I expect some movement shortly. Glad he could get the time off.

With the recent escalation in the share price due to takeover rumours, our threat of a strike should have considerably more influence on those managers whose bonuses are now directly linked to share price.
