Its used to protect the gear from excessive structural loads due to high brake torque by inputing into the brake limiter cards within the BSCU (brake system control unit) which provide signals to the norm and alt antiskid valves.

The sensor is part of the brake equalising rod and works as a strain gauge.The sensor input has a max torque value of 30,000 FT/LBS.Torque input results in reduced brake pressure to maintain brake torque at the max limit.
On the gear maint page the digital readout = thousands of FT/LBS eg 1.0=1,000 FT/LBS. 30.0=30,000 FT/LBS.
