Post First RailTrack, now 'AirTrack'?

An item on the morning news claims that the part-privatised UK ATC will be off to the Treasury with its begging bowl soon as it's running out of moolah.

When times are good, these daft PFIs are looked at greedily by contractors and government bean counters as a way of making money and avoiding the need for public funds. But there are big differences between 'services' and 'product' which this government doesn't seem to understand; the idea of a cash-starved Air Traffic system potentially suffering erosion of safety is exremely worrying - how many interceptors will be scrambled against innocent airlines because some underfunded part of the UK ATC system has just fallen to bits?
