Re: Theory of a rotary take off?

All the reading in the world won't prepare you for how to handle the controls.
It seems to depend very much on the person. I was one of the intuitive types who needed to feel everything, and reading and theory were counter-productive in the beginning. This may be true of most of us. But I had one trial lesson student, a f/w pilot for many years, who wanted hovering explained to him in detail. "I'm an engineer", he told me, "I NEED to know how it works before I can do it". I decided maybe he knew what was best for him, did a fair amount of explaining.....and he hovered passably well with all three controls for a couple of minutes!!!!!!

So, Keygrip, if you're the sort of person who thinks the theory will help, maybe it will. It beats me how, but I've seen it happen. So go find a book.
