Has the novelty worn off? Yes
Do I still enjoy my job? Absolutely

I've been flying for almost five years now for a regional airline. I really enjoy the work but it's certainly not the the job it' s made out to be in the media or the flight schools for that matter!!
For me the Oakley's only come out nowadays when needed. The breitling watch has gone way down my list of priorities. The terms and conditions have been eroded over the past number of years. Salaries are decreasing, rest periods decreasing, quicker turnarounds, less time conversing with other crew member (locked door), unhealthy air in your workplace, rushed meals and spending alot of time hoping that your groundcrew will do their best to get you out in the space of 25mins to the best of their ability.

In saying that, there is still not a job that I can think of that I would prefer to do. There are some amazing views to be seen on a daily basis. No two days are ever the same. I can see the industry changing even more however over the years. The airline industry is a cut throat industry and profits mean everything. As a pilot you will be held in good esteem, but at the end of the day you are there to do a job just like everyone else and when that means dragging you out of bed at 4am on a sunday morning then so be it.
