There are a few negatives about operating out of AVV for the MEL crew and this is why the current recruitment is focused on AVV.
1. Distance
2. Facilities (eg food outlets, shops)
3. The ability to finish work and catch a flight immediatly for days off away
Any new MDB (Mel Dual Base) crew will definatly find themselves working out of AVV, this being not such a bad thing though as it'll be YOUR base and you won't have any old boilers pushing you around!
