Ah yes the good 'ole Glynmill Inn. The first time I stayed there I remember sitting in the dining room and having made our selections were waiting for the waitress to come and take our order. She passed by numerous times, even made eye contact but never offered to stop and take our order. Finally I resorted to basically putting my arm out and physically stopping her. After informing her that we were ready to order she looked at me with a look of bewilderment and then pointed at the the little pad of paper and pencil on the edge of the table and said..."well write it down luv". Figuring out the local custom can be half the battle!
