However, it does become economically impractical for smaller airlines having a fleet of less than 5 aircraft to have a designated stand-by aircraft.
In my experience that seems to be the cut-off figure just about ... less than that forget it (you can not make money with a stand-bye a/c)
but it is a close game to loose pax
