Australian ATC vote YES for further pay reduction

It's official - Australian ATC's have joined the latest national craze, the big economic race to the bottom.

A clear majority in a secret ballot declared yesterday by the Australian Electoral Commission, voted in favour of continuing the recent 5 year decline in ATCO remuneration. Keyfeatures of the new package include:

- more hours worked for a lower pay rate
- an effective 12 month freeze altogether of pay rates
- an increase in the time required to reach top pay scales for ATC's
- accelarated wage reductions against the CPI, AWOTE and National Average
- buying extra leave from hours worked
- substantial reduction of overtime rate
- abolishing travel allowance when expected to work on days off
- giving management more subjective discretion in annual pay rises for ATC's
- more bonuses for management negotiaters

'It is hoped that soon we will be able to undercut our main competitors India, Cuba and Somalia for ATS service provision" said an Airservices spokesman from his Monaco resort.

Civil Air were unavailable for comment as their off duty members were all driving taxi's or stacking supermarket shelves on their fortnightly day off.
