Geez as far back as the seventies even, Capt Bristow Stagg was pushing "cabin quiet" hushpower of the VC10 for BOAC, and it was a fantastic passenger aircraft. Made the pax feel warm and fuzzy but the ears of the people on the ground would ring for days after a departure or arrival with the sound of those magnificent engines.
