Maintaining SEP validity

This has probably been asked before, so apologies if it has it probably means I can't use the search properly.

Passed my PPL a while ago (So watch out at the PPRUNE fly-ins... I can now fly the things)... and I am looking for a share or similar in an aircraft.

My question is this, the JAR PPL(A) has to be done in a CoA aircraft, can the re-validation of the SEP rating be applied for on time in a Permit aircraft. I am assuming the hour with an instructor has to be done in a CoA. I have tried reading LASORS but it doesn't make the re-validity point very clear, only the initial training difference.
