The unit is simply known as Gannet SAR Flight. Certainly 771 are the parenting unit but it is certainly not 771 Gannet SAR.

Sadly the Gannet is falling to bits and becoming something of a liability. Because of the radioactive hazard disposing of it has become a real problem. It’s a shame a museum can’t have it so it may enjoy some form of preservation but now it subject to mindless bureaucracy this may prove impossible.
Of course when it was moved across the road a few years ago nobody knew it was an extreme hazard to health but thankfully nobody died.
So now it is being battered by Scottish weather and will probably suffer a shameful fate.
In the meantime the glow from the engine looks pretty at night.
