just happened to be checking out some stuff on the casa website the other day and had a look at the dame's handbook in the pilot medicals section. In there it states that a person may be allowed, under certain conditions to take small amounts of codein every 6 hours provided it doesn't exceed 15 mg and still undertake flying duties. I don't know whether the fellow ppruners know it or not but codein is a hell of a lot stronger than the paracetemol uually found in such products as panadol. But as one person rightly pointed out if the pain is strong enough to be distracting or debilitating the person should most definately not be in command of an aircraft.
The thing that got me is that the lovely young lady on that particular commercial looked to be a little young to have the required hours to work for the RFDS, i am 27 and only have 700hrs. I would like to know how she did it
