Red face Great Reporting -- Gulf Air Diversion

A Gulf Air flight bound to Abu Dhabi from New Delhi, India, made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday due to a technical snag, a senior airport official in India told Gulf News.

All the passengers, numbering more than 100, were unhurt, the official said. The pilot, soon after take-off from New Delhi at 9.30am, discovered a technical snag and requested an emergency landing.

“A major catastrophe has been averted. The pilot got in touch with the airport terminal.

“The airport was cordoned off and we had the ambulance, the fire brigades, medical staff and the ground staff all on standby,” said the official.

“We heaved a sigh of relief when the plane landed safely. The passengers were quite shaken and were taken to the airport lounge. The technical team looked at the engine fault. Everything is fine now.”
