SecureID: If anyone looks forward to driving to work five days a week, no matter what the traffic is like, and sitting down at either a computer or piles of paperwork, they are welcome to 'hold court' in their little empires. I have absolutely no envy for them, even if they have a fancy job title, a large window with a view upon acres of asphalt, retain three secretaries and wear a different Italian-made suit each day
.
Maybe most of us will lose at least a major fraction of our planned/contracted retirement (US regional pilots save from their own paycheck), but I look forward to flying airplanes and not having to plough through tedious paperwork (like most military officers, attorneys etc), nor be involved in any office politics, but can't speak for other pilots. If I can do this until about age 60 and can take enough pills to suppress arthritis/tendonitis, then will feel somewhat fortunate.
