Bullies never like to be exposed for what they are. Mr Hairy Smelly one is now very conspicuous by his silence as he has always been, close to any legal action. Top-class legal advice Leo?

This is an enormous victory for free speech, as a court (an inndependent legal entity? even in Ireland?) will ultimately decide the merits of the pilots case. However, I wouldn't hold my breath that IALPA will get the result they desire and deserve.

Remember the Goss case recently? MOL and some of his sidekicks DOB et al were about to be jailed for contempt of court, so much so that they turned up in court with an overnight bag, but what happened? Did they purge their contempt? No. Was some kind of deal done behind the scenes by the company and the 'most cunning most devious of them all' and passed down to the Judge? Will we ever find out? Unlikely. Did any one of them go to the slammer even for one night - no.

Of course we all accept that the courts are independent of government and government is independent of big business, don't we? And we also believe in fairies at the end of the rainbow and Santa Claus. IALPA's best bet might be to get a judge who has heard some of the numerous cases against Ryanair in the past. Then at least he would know the kind of hairy smelly animal he's dealing with.
