Correction: Dermot Desmond
In our edition of 20 September 2005, we published an article under the headline 'Desmond's new airline is set to challenge Ryanair'. In this we incorrectly stated that Mr Desmond was in advanced discussions with a group of Northern Ireland investors to establish a low cost airline to challenge Ryanair, and that Mr Desmond was expected to emerge with 30pc of the new company. Mr Desmond does not have an airline nor is he in the process of establishing or investing in a new airline. We recognise that this article was untrue and hereby retract our comments on the matter. We greatly regret any distress caused to Mr Desmond as a result of this article, particularly in his capacity as owner of London City Airport. We are happy to correct our error and to apologise to Mr Desmond.
