Flybe announces intention to launch Manchester as new low cost base!
Flybe, one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines, today announces its intention to position Manchester International airport as a new low cost centre following the success of its Manchester to Southampton route, with the launch of two new routes to Exeter and Belfast City.
A further six new routes will be added at Manchester over the next two years, seeing the low cost carrier expand its operations out of the North West base. The Exeter and Belfast flights are now available for booking at
www.flybe.com.
The new additions to the route network see the airline continuing to facilitate travel for both business and leisure travellers between the North and South West of England as well as travel to Northern Ireland - traditionally a high cost route.
The routes form the final phase of Flybe’s winter schedule, which offers a total of 16 new routes nationally. The additional services support the company’s successful growth plan and confirm its commitment to consolidating its profile as one of the largest regional low fares business and leisure carriers in the UK, with a network stretching across the backbone of Britain.

Manchester to Belfast City

Exeter is the gateway to the South West’s fabulous coast and country making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK. With its fascinating 2,000 year history and a huge range of attractions and activities, Exeter is a great destination to visit all year round.
Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland and Ireland’s largest city is full of diversity. In recent years, Belfast has become a thriving entertainment centre with many bars and restaurants and great shopping. The city also boasts numerous cultural attractions including galleries and museums.
Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe comments: “The North West is a key region for Flybe and these new routes are just the start of our plans for the Manchester base, as we continue to look at ways to develop our route network in the North West.
“The new services show us responding to consumer demand and further expanding our already comprehensive route network, building on our domestic successes and facilitating regional travel.
“We are committed to offering a first rate, convenient regional airline service, and by aggressively increasing our operations in the North West we are successfully marrying convenient regional travel with great value and choice.”
