You're right chopchop. There is more to getting a job than having hours in the book and a few renewals. You got to have reasonable experience and good culture of safe flying. All that combined should at least get you an interview and then you can vet the pack. There's no guarantees, I know but you'd think one would be given at least the credit of an interview especially if one has been actively involved in the same field with an excellent track record....don't you think? But then in our small insidious inbred profession the saying, "its not what you know but who you know", that holds true most of the time.....
Why do I say that? Well it so happens that a pilot at the Airwing knows someone at head office Adelaide and was asked by that person if he wanted a job at Bendigo because they needed pilots. This Airwing pilot didn't originally apply.
Therefore there's probably no black-list but sometimes one does not get a look-in because somebody has said something malicious about you or spread a rumour that is totally unbased....hint, hint.
