For interior closeups they used a cut-away bubble so that the images shot from straight on would not be distorted by the curved plexiglass. The helicopter was run without rotor blades whilst in the studio - the shadow of the stabilizer bar passing over the canopy was enough to give the illusion of the aircraft in flight.
