Emirates interview - hard facts- let this thread stand alone

I have been looking at the main Emirates thread and it looks a mess with little information and a lot of chit chat, therefore i am starting this thread for tips on how to get that job at Emirates.

i have an interview approaching on 10th sept in London and would like people who work for emirates and those who have attended recruitment sessions to share tips and advice on what to do and what not to do- SPECIFIC TO EMIRATES

Also what they are looking for in particular?? (example- i have experience of 2 charter airlines and recently got offered a job with BA which i turned down as it was only short haul- i went to a ryanair interview for the experience and myself along with two other ex flyers were unsucessfull against an army of foreign people some of which didnt have any qualifications or could even speak the language properly- obviously didnt want to train ex-flyers).

i need to get this job as it is a dream, and would like other people to benefit also.

i will start the thread with some info i found specifically regarding the group exercises.

anything (group finding) stand up, don’t look at the interviewers but the people your presenting to. We were asked to split money we had won in the lottery. I noticed both groups gave a % to charity, you must have some understanding of the charity you are setting up/ supporting otherwise you’ll look like a genuine airhead!

You are the captain of a boat and you come across a lifeboat. In the lifeboat are five people. You can only save 3, who will you save?

Elizabeth 28, supermodel and film, married to a politician

Ted 58, specialized heart surgeon

Emma 12, IQ 150

Father Dan 32, well known for his good work with the elderly

Dr John 62, on the verge of a cure to cancer.

Work out whom to save (without taking votes). Again if you make eye contact with them they hate it. They sit right behind you, so try and distract yourself with the task and wear deodorant! We had to do 2 like the above, I found it really good fun. Contribute or they will ask you a question. I found by acknowledging a good point somebody else makes you will also demonstrate your ability to recognise a good idea your ability to encourage team members. Try and organise yourself (avoid doing this yours self tho, coz if you stuff it up you look really silly) or someone else to watch the time, and if possible be the person that reads out the task, first one to speak always scores point). Try to think on your feet, like who would least want to be saved?
The next task was pretty much the same, patients waiting for heart surgery that type of thing.

You get the idea. They give you the opportunity to ask some question. I tried to draw on their personal experiences as crew after all everybody loves to talk about themselves

any info key to being successfull in this 'preliminary selection session' as well as final interviews will be most appreciated

ive been hearing rumours that EK go to a place with a specific type of person in mind to recruit, and it changes with each recruitment day depending on their needs. no, this isnt exactly fair, and no, i dont know what types they are looking for. its all a bit of a gamble anyway, but because so many people want to join EK, i guess they can be picky and get away with it.

just go there and be your friendliest self. first impressions count....
