Excellent news.
Personally I'd like to see the Pre-Operative LASIK limit dropped.
I can understand why you would not want a pilot who is below -8D who wears glasses, if he drops then etc, he is renedered useless (carry a spare! problem is solved).
But to say no, you were -8D and even though after surgery (2yrs on), you are free of complications, good actuity and stable refraction, the fact you were >-8D excludes you.
I think the FAA have it right, if you can see 20/20, corrected or uncorrected, then you may have a class 1.
Here's hoping anyway, It'd allow me to start a career in aviation as aircrew (training as a b1 engineer currently).
