I think the book Semi Rigid is referring to is Aircraft Gas Turbine Powerplants by Charles E. Otis, M.Ed. ISBN 0-89100-255-3. This is my personal choice as well.

Another great book is Helicopter Maintenance also published by Jeppesen and written by Joe Schafer. This book is more piston engine orientated but has some good turbine engine diagrams. ISBN 0-89100-281-2.

The definitive work on turbine and jet engines is probably The Jet Engine by Rolls Royce but is a far more aeroplane orientated than the other two. Having said that all the principles and theory is essentially the same.
