This is getting bizarre. YMMb's website states that ASIC's wont be needed for the GA part of it, only the RPt bit.
Consequently they are only issuing ASIC's to people who have a need to be in the RPT area.
Latest advice is that YMEL can issue an Australia wide ASIC on a letter from someone in authority that you actually need it. For anyone who wants to do some air touring (as I do) that sounds reasonable if not necessarily convenient.
