It's an interesting thread this one and makes good reading not because of what has been said but more to do with what the original intention of it was........

<Sherlock Holmes Mode On>

Which, I suspect, (Drum roll).......... was to have a go at OffshoreIgor.

The original message was deliberately vague and although the defendant maintains that this was not intentional and that only he “wanted comments from the people who were involved”, his overreaction to OffshoreIgor’s comment seem to discount that.

The ‘SHOUTING’ in reply to what was a very plain and inoffensive comment seem to indicate that he had been waiting for this opportunity for some time.

BUT, you ask yourself, how did he know that OffshoreIgor would comment?

Easy. OffshoreIgor always comments! (Which he is perfectly entitled to do – it’s a bulletin board after all!). Obviously previous comments by OffshoreIgor have, to put it bluntly, got on Countdown’s tits! “WHY DONT YOU LISTEN AND LEARN.THE MORE YOU TALK THE LESS YOU ARE LISTENED TO.” The keyword is ‘more’ which suggests that OffshoreIgor’s previous comments have been read by Countdown and ‘Listen and Learn’ means that Countdown hasn’t agreed with them.

<Sherlock Holmes Mode Off>

As to the letters SVN in question then 4Rvibes was correct it is a Staff Vacancy Notice. These have been a bone of contention amongst pilots over here in the motherland (God bless her) for some time. They don’t necessarily mean ‘fairness to all’ but in this exciting and ever changing world of helicopters they, possibly, never can.

Yours, in need of a large drink and psychiatric help, Night Sun.

Case Closed!
(Actually skip the large drink I’ve just seen the Dispatches program on the TV.)
