The London HEMS system is based primarily on delivering a medical team to scene (Trauma Doctor (usually Accident & Emergency specialist or Anaesthetist) + specialist Paramedic).
The patient will then be taken by the most appropriate means to the nearest specialist hospital relevant to their needs.
I understand that on Thursday 18 Doctors were deployed to various scenes (some by fast response vehicles as some of the sites were close to the Royal London Hospital).
