If you look into it, I think you'll find BT has upgraded your connection to the exchange to 2 Meg. Once BT had informed Pipex of the work carried out, the connection was then throttled,
at Pipex's end to one meg. In my case, this took a little over a week, so I had 2 Meg until Pipex were informed, then down to one meg.
The properties for my connection, and router status page still indicate a 2 meg connection, but my account page at Pipex, and numerous Speed Tests show it is ~1 Meg.
Enjoy it while it lasts, and if you're not certain, visit
here and run a few tests. Don't forget to shut down any apps that use the 'net first, and run it a few times at different times of the day to achieve an accurate average...
