A German aviation monthly (AERO) reports that Iberia plans to add two BAe 146-200 or Avro RJ85 to its fleet to inaugurate up to four daily flights from LCY to MAD.
As AERO is not exactly famous for accurate reporting, some questions arise:
- anyone heard of such a plan ?
- will the aircraft be operated by Iberia indeed, will it be some kind of wet-lease/ACMI or will the BAe be operated by Air Nostrum ?
- what are the payload penalties for a MAD route ? I seem to remember that there has been talk about flights to Spain before but payload restriction were cited as the main reason for those plans not going ahead.
