CWL's figures (both monthly and the rolling 12 month total) have been falling over the past few months, bucking the trend at most UK airports.

These figures represent the rolling total for the 12 month period ending 31 May 2005, and in CWL's case are 6.5% down on the rolling 12 month figures at the same time last year. May itself was down 6% on the previous May's monthly figures.

I don't think that CWL has ever gone through the 1.9 million barrier in any 12 month period. However, this is likely to change quite significantly next year with the enhanced Tui programme, the new Freedom Flights initiative and the expanded Zoom schedule amongst other things.

And surely bmibaby must step up a gear there or watch someone else come in instead.

As for EXT, they seem to be doing very nicely with very high loads on their Flybe sun routes, as well as impressive loads on many of their others.

For example in May they carried 5,900 on their Flybe CDG service, beating CWL's 4,100 with bmibaby, and closing in on BRS's 7,700 with BACx. The million barrier at EXT is looking ever closer.

Incidentally, BRS's CDG service was 25% down on the previous May but whether this is mainly due to no longer having Air France on the route (even though BACx increased their rotations but not to the combined total that AF and BA had in May 2004) or to the competition from down the M 5 is an intriguing thought.
