There was a short item on ITV West Teletext today that Air Malta is to base an aircraft (presumably a 320, but Teletext items are always brief) year round at BRS, commencing this winter.

Routes to be flown include Hurghada, Cyprus and the Canaries.

There is nothing about this on the BRS website which is not a surprise because their website is not one of the better ones on the Net, to put it mildly.

Air Malta already has a 320 based at BRS this summer which, along with an Excel 734 (Islandsflug really) also based, carries out the large Freedom Flights programme.

I don't know whether the all-year-round Air Malta machine will be part of this or whether it is a separate initiative.
