I've been diagnosed with malaria 3 times in the last 20 years, each time as the result of a blood test. Each time, I went for a second opinion and the test proved negative. First test was always in PNG (will I
never learn?
) and the second was always in Cairns.
I dunno about the tests here these days, but used to be a regular occurrence for test results to be mixed up and given to the wrong people.
And then there was the time that a mate was diagnosed with malaria, without a blood test, and given a huge dose of Valium!
