and make a backup copy of the normal.dot that resides there, delete the original, and copy a fresh version from your installation CD.
If install CD doesn't have a normal.dot stored anywhere, then sure someone else here will be able to find a url for a clean one.
A lot of problems are caused by 'normal.dot' corruption. Just find where it is and delete it. There is NO need to copy one from elsewhere, as Word will automatically re-create one if it cannot find it. The only downside is that you will lose any changes to your toolbars etc that you have made.
