Jobs at Qinetiq

Not my field, but I got this in an email and thought some of you may find it of interest, oh and I don't work for the mentioned company either:

Boscombe Down, Salisbury, Wilts
When it comes to test and evaluation, QinetiQ is in a league of its own. On behalf of the MoD and industry partners – both in the UK and internationally – we work on a diverse range of cutting-edge projects. From trialling the Apache helicopter to testing the F35 Joint Strike Fighter Jet and A400M transporter, there are limitless opportunities here to develop your skills and experience.

Project Test Pilot
Up to £65,000 + benefits

Working within the Rotary Wing Test Squadron (RWTS), which is responsible for conducting military rotary wing test and evaluation, your role will involve preparing, executing and reporting on specific helicopters trials. You will also be the continuity pilot for research and development trials activity.

You must be capable of taking on the role of authorised Technical Assurance Provider to assist the Officer Commanding with the preparation and reporting of trials activity. Being a Qualified Helicopter Instructor to assist with flying training and standardisation would also be an advantage. We need someone with recent flight test experience who is a graduate of a recognised flight test school. You’ll also need to maintain Captaincy on a variety of rotary wing platforms. Ref: 13101

The Empire Test Pilot’s School (ETPS) is a global centre of aviation excellence, training Pilots and Flight Test Engineers to assess a broad array of aircraft and equipment before and during service. Our rigorous standards are world renowned, as is the quality of our students.

Rotary Wing Test Pilot/Development Test Pilot
Up to £65,000 + benefits

This is a dual role at present, working primarily for ETPS with short-term detachments to RWTS for helicopter trials activity. With ETPS you will be responsible for teaching, mentoring and assessing test pilot students on a variety of courses. You’ll cover everything from delivering lectures and preparing flying exercises to conducting training flights and contributing towards the development of new courses. At the RWTS, you will operate as a Test Pilot flying a range of helicopter trials, as well as preparing for and reporting on trial activity in the UK and overseas. You will also have some responsibility for the provision of flying supervision, flight authorisation and technical assurance for flight trials.

We’re looking for experience within a practical flight test environment, either in the civil or military aircraft fields. Ideally, you’ll also have a good grounding in more than one of the following areas: aircraft dynamics; aircraft performance; air vehicle engineering systems; weapons integrations and human factors. Educated to degree level, or equivalent, you must be a graduate of a recognised flight test school, while experience in a teaching environment would be an advantage. Ref: 13077
