To 212Man: I've read your post a few times and re-tried the math just to make sure before I posted again, but I think I had it right. For any given distance you measure you would have more statute miles than nautical miles because statute miles are shorter. So, multiplying statute miles by 1.15 to get nautical miles would make the product higher, which is contrary to what we know about the two distances. Try it again, maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I think the download suggestion is better and easier on the tired old noggin.
