I totally agree with your line of thought, But Caravans as well as Otters have been tried before in KNX.

When I was up that way a C310 charter would go for $1000 /hr and yet new pilot's were paid as little as $18000/yr. I seriously considered starting up an operation in the old Kingfisher hangar, Which was nearly new and cost less to rent than a small house in KNX.

Schlongair tried vans years ago, It's a great idea during the dry season for tourists, but during the wet season a lot of charter and contract work is in light singles and twins. So the vans spent a lot of time on the ground unless they could be cross hired somewhere else.

Another problem would be what to do on days when only 2 tourists front up for a flight, You couldn't turn away pre-paid ticket holders or you destroy any word of mouth good will, so you'd have to suffer a loss.
