Ham Phisted - Maybe, but how long do you think it would take them to change their minds should they have to start sub-chartering flights to cover holes in their workforce (I estimate the cost of a sub-charter is more or less equal to the cost of one type-rating)? There are still plenty of airlines that don't ask for a contribution to the type-rating.
