I think you’re in to deep and should pull back and get some oxygen.
Have you ever had your leave cancelled in your previous career? I have several times and on occasion with short notice for operational reasons. Learn to live with it! It sucks but it happens.
I will never phone in sick because I don't "feel like going flying" or I have "something else I want to do". This is very unprofessional and not a method that should be used against the company. And, yes it still sc**ws your buddy. But then you must be one of the many pilots in CX that are self-centered.
I also never realized being honest and professional made you look like an idiot. I obviously have much NOT to learn in CX.
