An airline will ask you to obtain a 'basic disclosure'
http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk . This disclosure will list any convictions against your name received within the last 5 years. A conviction for DD only stays on record for 5 years, so by the time you apply to the airlines nobody will be able to find out about the incident. I thinks its mainly to do with being able to get an airside pass, but DD is not even a disqualifying offence for the purposes of the pass anyway.
