You must be able to reside in Hong Kong in order to be eleigabl as a S/O. Though there have been several cadets who were hired from Canada, they all had the legal right to live and work in HKG. As a S/O you will be based in HKG until the time comes where you are a F/O, and are flying equipment which flies to (in your case) YYZ & YVR. Even as a F/O, you might be limited to a HKG basing given the type you're flying.
Have a thourough read through this forum, it offers many opinions on how CX is managed, and how the employees are treated.
On the other hand, I wouldn't limit myself to this forum only. Do some research if this is what you want.
