I've been in PNG in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's - not continuously, but with sanity breaks in Australia mainly - and I have to admit that I've never been armed.
I was at the "new" dero, below the Airways Motel, when it was held up. But like the true coward that I am - I fled onto the airport proper. The "Drum" two days later reported that a Jumbo took off without clearance... no kidding!
