It is important to mention that the pay rates quoted above are converted to an annual salary by multipling the hourly rate by 1000 (senior 747-400 Capt $320,000 USD/yr avg.), which is the contractual hours paid annually when 'actual' and 'credit' hours are calculated. An individual pilot can earn MORE than this if he chooses to work overtime. In addition, these salary numbers DO NOT include the generous pension benefits that can total up to an additional 4-5 MILLION USD. Needless to say, the companies claim that we are 'well' compensated is wearing rather thin.
