Hagen Days

Yes, I first met Norm Camp in '61, he owned a coffee plantation just outside the town on the Korn Farm road, later the airport road I think.

Bob Waller? can't remember that one.

Remember a gent called John Watts - had one of the first tea plns up there. It was along the S wall of the valley from Korn Farm.

I spent a fair bit of time on real 'patrol' work while in Hagen. Did one over the range into the Jimi and back - that was one hell of a walk. About 2-3 days hard slog, but 15 mins in a 185. But at least it was cooler than the Ramu, where I was out for weeks on end between Aiome and Annanberg, Chungrebu,Bunabun. Did the walk Aiome to Simbai a couple times...again 2 days flat out, but 15' in a Cessna!

Moved from Hagen late '61, went to releive on Kar Kar Is for several months, then spent a year in Madang District till '63.

happy days,
