How reliable is a pilots assesment of an over water emergency likely to be? Am I correct that there are two choices of action, ie stay onboard and turn turtle or step outside and hope heli doesn't descend thrashing on top of crew?
Are there many instances where the pilot knows the aircraft will not make it to ship/shore and yet still has confidence that he has control for enough time to tip out crew and manouver to a safe distance away?
