I agree with the post above.
Frankly it's hilarious that BA have had to reduce their requirements, from that of type rated 777 A320 or 744 rated guys - now to simply consider anyone with an ATPL.

Picture it - the recruiting office 9 months ago with some HR guys and a few pompous , arrogant BA mgt pilots sat round a table. They thought the doors to Meadowbank/Cranebank would be beaten down with type rated applicants. After all - they are the "worlds finest airline".

What actually happened?

Many prospective applicants spoke to guys in BA and found that it has little to recommend it. They discovered that the bidline system gives senior guys lifestyle and choices but at your ( junior) expense . Well, the mgt pilots managed to piss off a few applicants who did turn up for interviews ( see other pprune threads ) . Others rightly saw that We offer unparalleled long-term career opportunities really means you will sit in the right hand seat for 35 years. Many applicants quickly figured that even the pay was no better than other carriers. To be honest when you factor the time to command the pay is 30% less than other carriers.

It's one thing that BA pilot management have destroyed the working environment with persistent and deleterious changes over the past 7 years. What makes me laugh, is that they are so insulated and so removed from the real world, that this has come as quite a shock to them; - that they have had to bin their stipulation for type rated pilots.

Wake up and smell the coffee, as they say!!!
