Depends what you want to do with your CPL.

If you see yourself as a B747 captain, then the younger the better, within reason (get some exams under your belt first).

On the other hand, if you're coming up to retirement age, but fancy spending your weekends instructing after you've retired, then there's nothing to stop you doing a CPL in your 60s or even later.
