kestrel539... I was working (part-time) with JC in those days, so you and I probably know each other. SPAC exists in name and memory only these days. When the new domestic and international terminals were built, it occupied the whole of the north-west end where previously had been PNGDF, SPAC, PNGAS and Pacific Helicopters.
PNGDF relocated to the opoosite side of the aerodrome (that's a whole other story too!). SPAC and Pacific relocated to the far south-east end of the field. SPAC ran into financial problems as a result of that (a long, sad story) and the premises ultimately became a bar. It's still the place where many folks gather at the end of each day, but it doesn't have the atmosphere or style of the old temple!
JC has long since retired to the Sunshine Coast. Last time I saw him was 2002 and he and Missus C were still in remarkably good health.
