IO540, my last point. If you are flying IFR because the cloudbase is on or near the ground on your route, and the engine stops, you are deep in the poo. All flying should be organised so that you have get-out clauses, and if you regularly plan IMC flying in the average UK Wx in a single, you have straight away cut your options.
