They have operators using R44's in Jhb, Durban and Cape Town as well as a few other areas. (Listen out for the callsign Netstar One & Two in Dbn and Cpt). They operate day & night VFR on a call-out basis to track the stolen vehicles' signals and then to guide the recovery team's vehicle to the spot. The fact that you see them so much (and they're not always the branded R44's) proves that the published figures on declining hi-jacking and stolen vehicles are perhaps somewhat suspicious.
